Author/Artist, M. Lee Musgrave holds a Master of Art degree from CSU, Los Angeles. He is the recipient of a National Endowment for Arts Fellowship. His artwork has been in solo and group exhibitions world-wide. As a Professor of Art and curator he organized hundreds of exhibitions involving artists, collectors and a variety of related enthusiast. Those many experiences and his ongoing personal art activities inform his writing about LA’s exciting art community.

Thank you for providing this opportunity to share my novel, Brushed Off, with you.
What attracted you to the Romantic/Suspense genre?
A romance story in the context of a life-and-death crime situation makes the stakes high on both fronts because one or both of the people are facing life-threatening danger. That danger propels the story forward as they race to solve or stop the crime and keep each other safe. Plus the action that advances the crime puts the characters into high-pressure situations revealing their best and worst qualities very quickly which either advances the romance or ends it. In other words they have to delve deep into what makes each of them tick on a quickened timetable. I find that kind of scenario challenging to write and enjoyable to read.
Do you write in any other genres?
Yes, romantic/science fiction.
What inspired you to write Brushed Off?
I’ve long enjoyed reading contemporary Romantic/Suspense thrillers set in metropolitan areas, but I never found one that occurred within an art community and being an artist and author myself I decided to write one. In other words I wrote the story I wanted to read.

As emerging socialite Camille strives to be accepted into LA's elite, its hottest artists are being murdered and she doesn’t realize she is the key to the mystery. James & Nicole find love while protecting her and searching for the killer.
