What attracted you to the children's book genre?
My mom said many years ago, after she saw my love of writing, that if I ever became successful, it would probably be due to a kids book. During the beginning of COVID, I was very concerned about my children’s online education and thought, “What if I write a science
book series and my kids have to read it because dad wrote it.” The Nurse Florence series was born and the first published in Sep 2020. As of June 2024, there are now 92 original Nurse Florence titles with coloring books, beginning readers edition, language translations and special editions like for the visually impaired. We plan to publish around 500 original titles in that series.
Do you write in any other genres?
Yes. Dow Creative Enterprises has published a scripture comparison
series where we look at language translations for famous verses of the
bible. You can visit www.famouspsalm23.com
for more info about that. We have also published a series about life
skills. The first two are about weight and financial management. You
can visit www.skillsforcivilization.com
for more info about those. Nurse Dorothea has started published as of
29 May 2024. That series is targeted towards teenagers and is about
mental health. You can visit www.NurseDorothea.com for more info. We plan to publish a new book every 5 weeks in that series.
What inspired you to write Nurse Florence for Beginning Readers Coloring Book: Why is Chicken Healthy to Eat?
I thought it was important for people to know that eating chicken can
be healthy. I found some great research documents that support eating
chicken.
Can you give us your book blurb so others can find out what your book is about?
This is a health book series meant to help kids take their first steps in their journey of healthy living. A friendly nurse, Nurse Florence, guides three girls named Jean, Condi, and Sonia as they ask questions about their body and how to live healthier. The title character, Nurse Florence, is in honor of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. We hope a new generation of kids get interested in nursing and other health careers.
