Your new book, Luna's Veil, focuses on Leonard Burton who must unravel the eldritch mysteries surrounding his wife's death before he is consumed by the malevolent forces lurking beneath Luna's Veil. How did you come up

with that premise?

I have made my literary home in historical fiction with a focus on the decade of the 1920s and there is a great deal of material to draw from: secret societies, occultism, gangsters, and military excursions (which we never talk about). Even before this most recent eclipse, my kids were asking me about eclipses and that found me going down the rabbit hole of old (more like ancient) accounts of eclipses being seen as harbingers of doom.

From there, I had the idea of an eldritch being whose influence on this plane of existence was tied to the cycles of the moon, and the main character being a returning veteran of the Banana Wars seemed a natural fit.

Can you give us a book blurb so others can find out what your book is about?

Leonard Burton wakes up to find his life in ruins. His wife is dead, and no one believes his story about what killed her – he's not even sure he believes it himself. Now, in jail for the crime and with no friends, his prospects are bleak. That is, until he is rescued by Dr. Cecil Gainor, an enigmatic investigator and perhaps the only other man who knows what unnatural horrors are really at work.

Unfortunately, more questions arise when Cecil's partner disappears while chasing the same dark forces responsible for the death of Lenny's wife. The two men realize they must follow the trail themselves, or many other lives may be at risk.

What follows is a race against time to clear Lenny's name and find the real killers before the full moon. The death and destruction that has already been suffered is nothing compared to what will occur beneath Luna’s Veil.

Can you give us a brief description of your main character?

Even before the events of Luna’s Veil, Lenny suffered more than his share of hardships. The self-destructive period that followed, unfortunately, led him to run afoul of the law and ultimately resulted in his joining the USMC. But after a year of supporting the peacekeeping mission in the Dominican Republic, he is returning home to – hopefully – pick up where he left off with his wife, Rita. That is, if she’ll have him. Sometimes he wonders if they were ever right with each other.

Do you plan on writing more books in the horror genre?

Oh, absolutely. In fact, Luna’s Veil was originally conceived as a much larger story. About halfway through it, I realized that the first half of the book was running way too long in tooth and made the decision to split it. While this story stands on its own, there is a Part 2 that has already been started and I will (one day) finish.

Where can readers buy your book?

Paperback and Kindle available on Amazon. Kindle Unlimited as well.

What is next for you?

Greystone Asylum in Parsippany, NJ has long held my fascination. For many years it represented the cutting edge and top shelf quality in treatment of the mentally ill. Unfortunately, this would suffer as the number of patients exceeded capacity, and the place would eventually close its doors in the late 1990s. However, in the 1920s, the old girl was in her prime.

My next book is going to continue the adventures of con-man Roy Orville from The Safe Game. After sneaking into Greystone for what he thinks will be an easy pay day, Roy quickly discovers that he’s gotten more than he bargained for, and this stay may be for much longer than he ever intended.
